News Flash: Issaquah, WA - Fred Meyer

Monday, March 24, 2008 7:15 PM

Several women reported being "flashed" by an almost 2-year old while shopping at the local Fred Meyer. While they innocently shopped for their weekly groceries, the offender, one Jameson DeHart would capture their attention by saying "Hi!".

Once they responded, he would lift his shirt and sweater all the way up to his face, exposing his chest and belly and would yell "look at my belly button".

He is quite an adorable little guy and most of the victims were amused, however bystanders say that the mother of the little guy was hiding under the grocery cart with a very red face.

Find eggs??

Jameson really got into Easter this year. Grammy and Poppa sent him an Easter "bucket" that he just loved. He keeps trying to find more cookies in the eggs. He shakes them and hands them to us and says "open, it...cookies?" Well, by now all the cookies are long gone....but he keeps on trying!

He loved the egg hunt that we did inside the house on Easter morning. In fact, we did two rounds of egg hunts he loved it so much. This morning the first thing out of his mouth was "Find eggs?"

I spoke too soon.......

So last night, Jameson is in the hallway and says, "oh no!" and points to the wall that has some red crayon marks on it. ( I thought I had hidden all the crayons for supervised crayon time ), so I said, "oh no, who did that?" He said as serious as can be, "Daddy did it, no no Daddy". So I played into it and said, "Daddy did this? I'm going to ask Daddy when he gets home." Then he said, " Jameson did it". I was hardly able to contain my laughter.

So when Christian got home the three of us went over to the wall and I said, " Jameson, who did this?" He looked around, knowing he couldn't blame it on Daddy and said, "Tucker". We just cracked up.

"I Did It!"

Some kids try and hide it from their parents when they make a mistake or do something naughty. Jameson likes to announce it by yelling "I did it!".

He then leads us to the scene of the crime, where we are bound to find spilled juice, a ripped book, coloring on the wall, or Rusty trying to lick butterfly stickers off of his fur. Jameson is not proud when he says "I did it!" He always has this "guilty/I know I am in trouble" look on his face, but I guess he wants to be forthcoming about what he has done.

We hope he will always be this honest! :)

We Need a Little Work on the "Quiet Voice"

Jameson and I went to the library today to pick out some new books. They have a great kids area with little chairs and couches that the kids can sit on to read. So we picked out a "Wheels on the Bus" book and a tractor book and Jameson settled in on the couch to read while I went to pick out some more books for him.

I am a few rows away looking for airplane books when I hear the unmistakable voice of our precious little guy singing " The Wheels on the Bus" at the top of his lungs. I was trying to hold in my laughter as I sprinted back to the couch to remind him to use his inside voice. There were many giggles going around the library at that point.

"Winkle, Winkle Little Tar"

Jameson definitely has his Daddy's genes for the love of singing and the ability to carry a tune. One of his favorite activities is to strum the guitar and sing, "winkle winkle little tar". He carries the tune of the songs perfectly....just still working on the correct words a bit.

Here are a few of the others that we hear on a daily basis...........

"Itsy Bitsy Pider"
"Bridge down, bridge down" (London Bridge)
"Row Row Row the Boat"
"Comes...round the mountain...comes" (She'll be comin' round the mountain)
"Wheels on the bus, round and round"
"Okey Pokey, Okey Pokey"
"Muh-Man, Muh-Man" (muffin man)(he rubs his belly while he sings this one)
"AB6 XYZ"

He' s our little American Idol!

My Sweet Little Helper

The other night, I was reminded of what a sweet little boy we have. It had been a particularly trying day and I had just finished up feeding Jameson dinner. We walked into the living room, that I had just vacuumed about 2 hours ago and see that Tucker has destroyed a paper bag and a huge brown leaf which has left shreds of paper and leaf all over the carpet. No big deal, if your vacuum is working properly. Ours is not.....so I grumble and get down on my hands and knees and start picking up the tiny pieces one by one. I have been working on this a few minutes when I realize that Jameson has been very quiet. I called out, "what are you doing J"? He comes walking up to me and holds out his hand, filled with little pieces of leaf. I took them and thanked him for helping me, and he got right back on his hands and knees and kept picking up the pieces. He is such a sweet little guy and just loves to help.

"stupid jerks,stupid jerks"

As Jameson and I were driving the other day, I heard him exclaim from the car seat what I heard to be "stupid jerks, stupid jerks". I assumed that I had heard him wrong, but couldn't figure out what he was trying to say. I didn't hear that phrase again until a few days later when we were in the car and again I heard him say "stupid jerks, stupid jerks". Now I knew that for some reason he says this only while we were driving. I am not a road rager and couldn't think of a time that I really ever use the words "stupid" or "jerks".....I'm sure my choice of words would be much worse actually. I know that Christian never uses these words either. I started wonderng if maybe Pat said this while he was riding with her at some point. I figured that next time I heard him say it, I would tell him that it was not nice. That evening, the mystery was solved. As we were reading his tractor book, he pointed to the bulldozer and said "stupid jerks, stupid jerks"........at that point I realized that he was saying "scooping dirt, scooping dirt". The reason he always says it in the car is because there is so much new construction going up around us that we are always driving by tractors scooping dirt.

"Bunnies Eat Chips"

I thought I would try and get Jameson to eat raw carrots again. He loves the cooked ones, but always spits out the raw ones. So I brought some carrot sticks out, sure enough he spit them out. Then I took a bite, thinking maybe he would want to be "just like Mommy" and eat them, but no...that didn't work either. Then I came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea and tried to appeal to his love of animals and said, "Jameson, bunnies eat carrots!" He seemed interested and repeated, "Bunnies eat carrots!" I said "yes" and handed him another carrot stick. He looked at the carrot stick and looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said, "Bunnies eat chips".

I guess it's going to be awhile until my little bunny eats carrots!
